SmartPAP Therapy Device

SOMNOsmart is the first and only SmartPAP sleep apnea device that recognizes the constantly changing width of the patient's upper airways early and reacts immediately with a corresponding change in pressure. The intelligent device follows the oscillations of the pharynx and recognizes airway changes by means of oscillatory pressure measurement.
In the new device generation, the dynamic initialization phase yields a reference value after only a few breaths. The patient no longer has to prepare himself for the initialization. The inspiration and exhalation phases as well as respiratory rate are analyzed separately. Artefacts such as breathing through the mouth, swallowing and coughing can be detected and easily identified. In addition, snoring events are clearly registered by means of a highly specified frequency analysis. This means that detection of snoring no longer takes place via an ODS curve.
With SOMNOsmart, the patient can be treated especially gently with a lower therapy pressure on average. A display of the actual pressure lets the patient check the therapy pressure at a glance. At only 8.5 cm high, SOMNOsmart can fit into any briefcase for vacation or business trips. A therapy calendar is integrated in the device for a temporal representation of the course of therapy and for storage of six weeks’ worth of data. The software SOMNOsupport analyzes the stored data to determine the ideal therapy for each patient. Via an analogue port, the oscillatory pressure signal and therapy pressure can be shown in the polysomnograph in the sleep laboratory.
